Broken Promises
Have any of you ever broken a promise? It's probably terrible karma to do so, but I've done it plenty of times. I basically go by a saying known as, "Promises are meant to be broken." Maybe it is cowardly and maybe it is enough to make a lot more people hate me, but sometimes I just can't keep to a promise... I just can't find the strength.
I know only this for sure: More of my promises are going to be broken.

And which promises would those be, Peewee?

Re: Broken Promises
possibly, but it's beyond memory. I try not to make promises if I know I can't achieve it

There, it's finished... he doesn't have to deal with me anymore. It's just better this way.
I'm a horrible person and a fucking coward, but it's over.

Making Promises
Lately I've been thinking I shouldn't make promises any more. I haven't been making many anyway, but that's besides the point.
Many times, saying "I promise I will ______" is sort of like pretending you can predict the future. You never know when something unexpected may come up in your life, or maybe even something that doesn't stop you from doing it entirely, but you have to do something that is against your moral code in order to fulfill the promise.
The downside to that is that most people will think of you as an untrustworthy person. If every time they ask you to promise, you say "I can't make that promise", they would think you aren't willing to do something for them. They don't think of the idea presented in the second paragraph of this post.
I think I'd rather be reasonable and not let people down. I'll try to explain this to people that ask me to make promises, but in the situation it would merely sound like an excuse.

Re: Broken Promises
You can promise you will do your best, and that's about it.
