Candy Makes Smiles
Candy is delicious. I mean really, it's a colorful batch of chemicals that usually sends artificial satisfaction to me. Lollipops are a great example of candy... when they are not so damn huge and take forever to shrink with endless licks, though.
Anyway, candy somehow has the power to make people smile, artificially or not, despite its unhealthy reputation.

Re: Candy Makes Smiles
Chocolate also makes me happy. I don't think it is considered candy, though... I believe it is not candy either. But chocolate these days aren't even real chocolate like how candy isn't even a real food, so I guess it is candy. Besides, if it was real then it would not be delicious... it would be bitter.
Whatever. All that matters is that chocolate makes me and some other people happy. The reason I typed "some" is because the other half is either allergic to the sweet treat or they just don't like it one bit.

Food is one of life's most basic pleasures. When I'm depressed, I could go for days without eating, though. Most of the time, I do. I'm a skinny guy, too, so I can't afford to lose any weight.

I can go without eating for days sometimes, too. I'm not in the mood to eat... but if I do, there is a little worry that it will come back up again.

Re: Candy makes smiles
I agree with you completely.
I think it's the amazing flavorful taste candy has that makes us all so happy and excited.
My Mother always bought candy for me when I was feeling sad.

Bah, I wish I had some chocolate now. I usually crave for the artificial sweetened junk, but they're pretty satisfying for me... unless the chocolate is made from cane sugar and bitter baking chocolate, the sort of mess that could really kill your pets.

Candy
Its quite an interesting mix of ingredients that we've only been able to perfect in recent years. Then again, a lot of what we eat today is an unusual mix of stuff. Don't you wonder what a 17th century king would think of a bowl of Reese's Puffs Cereal or a cup of Jello?
It has also been something to blame for people getting fat or hyper, where in most cases, neither is true. You really have to chow down on candy to get fat from it, and sugar doesn't really make you hyper.

It's only artificial if you think of it that way. Are you pretending to like how it tastes so you can have feelings similar to everyone else, or does it in fact have a good taste to you? Good taste isn't the most fulfilling satisfaction, but it's far from artificial.TurkeyBeef wrote:It's a colorful batch of chemicals that usually sends artificial satisfaction to me.

They make it taste good so that you will be satisfied for a short while, wanting to come back for more once it's over.

Candy
As with all the good things in life.
Plus, if it lasted a long time, you'd grow used to it and it would lose its strength. (Candy? Boring!?)
It would be nice if it was cheaper, though.
I had a Twix bar today. I got a king size so I could eat it over a long period of time. We all know that never happens, though.

Re: Candy Makes Smiles
They let you eat candy in school? Back in my day all we had was peanuts. They weren't even covered in chocolate!
Re: Candy Makes Smiles
They let us eat candy when it could make us fat. They let you eat peanuts when someone could have a peanut allergy. School is so cool.
Candy
This thread is losing its "Joy" factor.
There have been a lot of new takes on old candy bars lately. Mostly dark chocolate or the addition of fudge or some other chocolate. I like some of them, but I'm guessing some people treat them like a bad movie sequel. "Despite the same characters and a similar plot, it was nothing like the original! I hate it and you should, too!"

Funny fact: many popular drinks like coca-cola had cocaine as an ingredient. (I wish I was lying but it's true according to many psychology textbooks).TurkeyBeef wrote:Steve wrote:This thread is losing its "Joy" factor.

Re: Candy Makes Smiles
Sometimes it makes me frown when I accidentally cut my tongue on a candy cane.

Don't forge weapons inside your mouth!
...I wonder if they let you bring hard candy on airplanes.
Watch it get banned tomorrow since I posted this.
