When a loved one has it in their mind that something is wrong with them, and you know it isn't true, but they have completely stopped listening?

Look the other way and don't think about it again. It's obvious that they believe in managing themselves, even if it means they will succumb to their own demands.

Understand that although any one person may consider one aspect of their lives "wrong," it is only one aspect.
One part that does not speak for the whole. Whomever this person may be, explain to them that whatever they consider wrong with them does not represent them completely, and that there is no entirely right or wrong way of living or ideology.

Just try to prove them wrong. That's what I do, and it usually works, if it's possible to do that.
